The 2019 edition of the national book design competition was all about visual spamming. Online and offline. We wanted to bomb people with this one so we took the two most present elements in physical and digital media: the classic event poster and cute animals. You can't take a walk through Bucharest, or any city in Romania without being hit by the image of rows of concert posters pasted on construction fences; a repetitive imagery that sticks to your mind like glue. Likewise, almost any scroll on social media will hit you with clips of adorable animals, that simply stop you from whatever you're doing. 

In this spirit, all visuals were type-based and pasted on top of each other with an adorable animal on top. Gifs for social media and posters for outdoor. 

With the support of several printing houses we printed 20 posters in a 300 print run each. Each poster contained one of the shortlisted books, with images, technical information and a cute animal of course. Pasted chaotically on the walls of the exhibition the posters spammed the visitors with the books already set on the tabletop. 

The posters also served as an affordable, easy to exhibit, mobile catalogue of the competition, placed beneath each book at the exhibition for visitors to take and paste wherever they deemed fit. Also a tool for networking, a set of 20 posters is way easier to mail to partners wanting to exhibit the most beautiful books, in case time, budget or manpower doesn't permit for an exhibition of the actual books. All one needs is a wall to paste them on, indoors or outdoors.
