With a focus on the book as a medium, SLB tries to explore the sound and its visualization.
The 2019 residency, Bandwidth, focused on communication, a concept so easily recognisable, yet so complex in defining and perceiving.
The first thing we thought of when we heard “bandwidth” was radio. But that’s us; we love old tech, and listen to our 80’s FM radio every day. So we picked the dish, maybe the most common symbol of modern communication. An easy visual depiction of how it works: from A to B through C; beam up, beam down. A bit of space age nostalgia and a minimal approach and there we have it: a set of simple visuals that hide the underlying complexity of human communication.
